Stories Beyond the Ordinary—
Meet Aaron Gookin

It’s often said life is a story and the same thing can be said for me. Born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1985, I was a curious one, eager to explore and imagine. Since age four, books and stories have been my world—from “Reading Rainbow” to creating my own tales.

About Me

It’s often said life is a story and the same thing can be said for me. Born in Frankfurt, Germany way back in 1985, I was a curious one, eager to explore and imagine things. Since I was very young I was always entranced by the world of books, I began reading at the age of 4 and watching the beloved PBS program “Reading Rainbow” of which I taped about 10 volumes of. Throughout my school life, I loved to write all sorts of things, poetry and fiction, as the years went by my writing got more and more sophisticated. At first when I was young my writing was about creating a scene and a fantasy, but over the years I put in other literary element like theme, prose, and irony. I even branched out from fantasy, science fiction, horror to more realistic fiction. My style is getting inside of my protagonists as they struggle to attain their goals, and a lot of my influences come from real events or popular culture influences. Many of the obstacles my protagonists face be it fear or some antagonist are based off experiences in my life.

Today, while I continue to write in my spare time, I work as a Certified Professional Coder remotely, where I translate diagnoses into alpha-numeric codes, and I have many hobbies. Besides writing stories, I also go on nature walks, swim, do martial arts, video games, watch movies, draw, garden, and travel. When I go on nature walks I take plenty of photos of animals on the trail, like foxes, herons, deer, frogs, turtles, snakes, and other things. I garden virtually every year usually tomatoes, potatoes, beans, and peppers. Contour drawing is my specialty when it comes to doing art, and I can draw landmarks, animals, pop culture characters, even real people. Although swimming is an occasional exercise for me, in my late elementary up to the end of my high school years I was a competitive swimmer. I have a light background in the following martial arts: judo, kung fu, and goju-ryu karate. I have a long list of favorite movies which will come soon in a blog.

Besides being born in Germany, I’ve also traveled to Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Italy, New Zealand, France, Kenya, and Tanzania. I’m hoping one day I can make it to India, if given the chance.

Please enjoy my take on literature!
